These are really great essential oil blends!  They are extremely therapeutic and comforting!  They made me feel amazing!  Wonderful, therapeutic blends!

You can find* some of their oils here:

Nature’s Fusion’s Essential Oils are fantastic blends for many purposes:

I love their Fire and Ice blend for muscles:  it made my sore muscles feel better, and it was both relaxing and invigorating too!

I was fortunate enough to be given 3 amazing blends to try.  In addition to Fire and Ice for muscles, I tried Crystal Breath for respiration and Dragon’s Breath for protection.

I rubbed Crystal Breath right on my chest (I recommend a carrier oil anytime you put on your skin) to help with congestion.  It has a wonderful aroma, and the effects were very relaxing and opening as well.

I also love their Dragon’s Breath formula, which is a great purifying formula (note: rinse well).

These would also make great blends to use in your diffuser, and they smell amazing and are purifying and therapeutic as well!

My Favorite CBD Products

CBD is a PHENOMENAL restorative compound for the body.  This is truly a breakthrough in well-being!

I am finding more and more that CBD helps me sleep deeper and better, improves my energy and mood, and reduces inflammation in my body (inflammation indicates an immune response).

From Delicious Living Magazine:

How does CBD work?

“All the cannabinoids in the Cannabis sativa plant work on your body’s innate endocannabinoid system—a recently discovered whole-body system, similar to your nervous system or cardiovascular system. The endocannabinoid system governs specific areas of your physiology, such as hunger, pain, stress and pleasure. Not surprisingly, these are the systems people notice are affected when they smoke marijuana.

On a molecular level, the endocannabinoid system works like a lock and key with receptors. The receptors are the lock, the cannabinoids are the keys. They CBD “key” fits the lock almost—but not quite— like THC does. Therefore, ingesting CBD can give many of the same effects as you might experience with THC but, notably, does not provide the euphoric high.

The benefits of pain and stress relief make CBD a potentially powerful medicine indeed, even without the pleasurable high.”  Read more here: http://deliciousliving.com/supplements/cbd-101-what-cbd?cid=nhbc

Here is more information on CBD:

Your body has an endocannabinoid system, which is designed to keep you in balance.

CBD helps to mediate the release of cytokines which can help with pain and inflammation.

CBD is from cannabis (found in hemp or marijuana), is a cannabinoid and is non-psychoactive.

There are many cannabinoids (over 60 and counting), including THC.  There are also different types of CBD, including CBD1 and CBD2.

CBD1 affects the brain and neurological system and CBD2 affects the immune system.  We have CBD receptors in our brain, liver, stomach, and nervous system (and maybe even more places).

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) was discovered only in 1992, but it good we discovered it, as its purpose is to keep our bodies in balance and recover from stress, etc.

The basic function of the ECS is to help you: “Relax, eat, sleep, forget, and protect.” ~Professor Di Marzo, 1998

(source: New Hope Network)

For so many of us with chronic conditions, we know and can feel that our bodies are out of balance.

It is very possible some of our symptoms could be due to endocannabinoid deficiency.

“It occurred to me that a number of very common diseases seem to fit a pattern that would be consistent with an endocannabinoid deficiency, specially these are migraine, irritable bowel syndrome, and fibromyalgia.  They have some things in common.”

Dr. Ethan Russon on CBD & Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency (Jun 21, 2016)

CBD may also help your body in several ways by reducing inflammation, bolstering the immune system, and even having neuroprotective effects.

~ I have found CBD to help my body feel remarkably and consistently better ~

Here’s a really important point and discovery I have made along the way of trying cannaboid products:

** I think this is a really important point: THC seems to often overstimulate the body, whereas CBD seems to operate more as a restorative compound in the body

I feel this is a really important distinction, perhaps.  While THC may have benefits, CBD (and so far, especially hemp-derived CBD) seems to have particularly therapeutic and restorative effects on the body.

What Conditions and Wellness Goals is CBD Good For?

Read here for a list that includes MS, autism, Parkinson’s, epilepsy, cancer, sleep duration, pain, dependency (think marijuana, cigarettes), performance, and stress (CBD can act like an adaptogen – which helps you adapt to stress better).

Read more here:

http://deliciousliving.com/supplements/cbd-science-health-conditions-we-know-it-s-good

Is it legal?

Here’s the short answer:

“Even though (marijuana) THC is illegal and on the controlled substance list, our hemp CBD (cannabidiol) is not illegal because it has been grown in a legal country, imported to the US legally, and the CBD has been extracted from the legal mature stalk of the hemp plant.”

Without further ado, here are my favorite CBD products*

Note: I recommend potentially starting with a full-spectrum hemp cannabinoid formula (I can take as much as I like this way).  But, of course, high-CBD formulas have their role too.  Just go easy. I still use high-CBD formulas (my favorites are Barleans, Liberty Lixir, Everyday Optimal CBD), but I can only take a small amount each day.

I will delineate which products are full-spectrum or high-cbd products I have tried and recommend:  A High CBD Product or a Full-Spectrum CBD Product

First, the one full-spectrum CBD product I have tried and that I use all the time, by Hemp-Fusion.

A Full-Spectrum CBD Product:

For full-spectrum CBD, this is the brand I love: Hemp-Fusion:

I love CBD.  Some of the concentrated brands can be too much for my system, beyond a little here and there, but I love full-spectrum hemp cannabinoids.  Hemp Fusion offers full-spectrum CBD products my body loves.  They help me sleep deeper and better, and also help me with anxiety, inflammation, and energy.  CBD for deeper sleep…it really works!!

A High CBD Product

Here is the Barleans formula I also use for deeper sleep (I take a very small amount: 1/4 of a dropper):

A High CBD Product

Liberty Lixir High CBD Tincture

0c4cca6c-19e0-4c93-8d34-ff1449c46d62

This is a phenomenal product!

You MUST try CBD (I recommend either high CBD in small doses – or full-spectrum phytocannabinoids taken as needed) if you are struggling with pain, fatigue, sleep issues, inflammation, or other chronic health issues.

Find Liberty Lixir High CBD Tincture here:  http://libertylotion.com?aff=5

You might be wondering:  what is CBD?  Is is legal?  Is it safe?

To me, the question you should be asking yourself is have I tried everything I can to feel better?  Am I missing anything?

Perhaps you have wondered about CBD for pain relief.  Perhaps you have explored using hemp or marijuana products to improve your health or well-being.

I encourage you to explore all of your options.  For me, this product is life-altering:

A game-changing product, with life-altering and stabilizing effects on my body.

It reduced my pain and inflammation levels, and improved my energy levels, while lowering my stress levels.

Whenever I take it, I feel more “stable” physically, and more resilient to stress.  It also helps me sleep more deeply.

Liberty Lixir fortified my body and reduced my symptoms.  How does it work? In a nutshell…

Your body has an endocannabinoid system, which is designed to keep you in balance.

CBD helps to mediate the release of cytokines which can help with pain and inflammation.

CBD is from cannabis (found in hemp or marijuana), is a cannabinoid and is non-psychoactive.

I have found CBD to help my body remarkable and consistently feel better.   I love the Liberty Lixir High CBD Tincture because it seems to be the exact right amount of CBD in a proprietary formula that my body loves.   You take it underneath your tongue, so you bypass the liver.

This works great for me, as my liver does not process many substances well.

I use this product to get and stay in balance.  It is a no-brainer and a game-changer for my health and well-being.  I highly recommend it!  A must try.

What is CBD, and how can it help me?  (from the Liberty Lotion website)

CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid commonly found in hemp. It has been indicated by anecdotal evidence and numerous scientific studies that CBD may provide significant health benefits across a broad spectrum of potential applications. It has been indicated that CBD may be a viable treatment for anxiety, chronic pain, stress, schizophrenia, dementia, neuralgia, alzheimers, strokes, arthritis, migraines, parkinsons, and essentially any and every ailment under the sun, especially those which have a direct relationship to inflammation, since the evidence suggests that CBD is first and foremost a potent anti-inflammatory. In addition to its anti-inflammatory properties, recent scientific research has indicated that CBD may have profound immunoregulatory and neuroprotective effects.  It appears that CBD not only helps the body repair and recover from illnesses, but also boosts health in general and protects against disease. For more information on CBD, please view this article.

CBD, or Cannabidiol, has exploded onto the scene in the last few years as a heal-all substance that purportedly cures disease, reduces pain, and generally increases quality of life all across the board. But what is CBD, and is it just the latest fad, or is it really something of substance that will be a healing staple for years to come?

There is ample evidence to support the latter position. CBD is a cannabinoid, a term which, since the 1940s, has been used to designate isolated compounds found within the Cannabis Sativa plant. However, recent research suggests that the general chemical structure common to cannabinoids is not limited to Cannabis Sativa, and substances found in other plants which resemble cannabinoids are called cannabimimetics1, a term that designates a substance which emulates or mimics the effects and/or structure of a cannabinoid. On top of that, medical science has recognized for decades now that there are cannabinoids endogenous to the human body, which are called endocannabinoids2. These endocannabinoids native to the human body comprise a system called the endocannabinoid system, or ECS for short. Scientific research has revealed that the proper functioning of the ECS is vital to health and well-being as it promotes homeostasis in the body, which is a fancy word for balance. The endocannabinoid system keeps the body in balance and the research suggests that CBD boosts the functionality of the endocannabinoid system as it performs this endless, thankless task which keeps us healthy and prevents disease.

Countless scientific studies have supported the claim that CBD acts as a potent anti-inflammatory3, which means that it reduces tissue inflammation throughout the body and helps this tissue to revert to its natural, uninflamed state. All of us are familiar with one type of inflammation4, acute inflammation. This is the kind of inflammation that is experienced, for instance, when you stub your toe and it gets big and red, or when you skin your knee and the surrounding area gets red and puffy. This is the body’s natural response to injury and subsides after the healing process gets underway. But there’s another form of inflammation which affects those who suffer from it in a much more intense and debilitating way; chronic inflammation5. Scientific research has linked chronic inflammation to everything from rheumatoid arthritis, to schizophrenia6, to depression, to neuralgia, and everything in between. In general, most people are suffering from some form or another of chronic inflammation; in fact, the research suggests that inflammation is the root cause of almost every if not every single ailment or disease which affects the human body and mind. Meaning, that if it is true that CBD has as potent of an effect on inflammation as the research suggests, the implications for general health and well-being could be astonishing.

According to the research, not only is it possible that CBD treats disease by reducing inflammation7, but it also may prevent disease and promote health by bolstering the immune system8. Not only that, but recent studies also support the claim that CBD may have neuroprotective9 effects, which means that it may aid in the recovery of persons with neurodegenerative ailments10.

While the results are still out, so to speak, since the FDA has not yet acknowledged CBD as a legitimate medicine, the absolute avalanche of scientific study that has come forward in the last few years overwhelmingly supports the position that there is great therapeutic benefit to using CBD to treat and prevent chronic conditions as well as promote general health and well-being. Cannabis Sativa has been used, in one form or another, for thousands of years in various cultures as a healing tool. Modern research is finally shedding some empirical light as to why this may be the case.

A High CBD Product:

0c4cca6c-19e0-4c93-8d34-ff1449c46d62

I was very fortunate to receive a bottle of Every Day Optimal CBD Oil Tincture with 1000 mg of CBD.

This wonderful formula has a great, mild peppermint flavor, and helped me tremendously with relieving  pain, anxiety, and inflammation, as well as supporting my mood and supporting deeper sleep.

You can find the product I tried here, along with the rest of their amazing product line here:  https://www.everydayoptimalcbd.com/?ref=9

Here are some of the qualities I love about this product:

  • Easy to use (I put it under my tongue)
  • Great taste – mild peppermint flavor
  • Supports overall well-being
  • Supports mood
  • Supports sleep
  • Reduces pain (for me) – could CBD be a healthy substitute for opiods?
  • Reduces inflammation (for me)
  • Reduces the overall effects of stress
  • One caveat:  go slow – take a small amount and notice how you feel; build from a small dose

I also tried their D-Stress CBD with adaptogens, herbs, minerals, and other nutrients to combat the effects of stress.   This is another fantastic product.

Note:  I do recommend starting slow with doses of any CBD product.

Sleep Tips (1)

Sleep Tips and Aides:*

Getting poor to no sleep is a real bummer.  Believe me, I know from personal experience.

I developed sleep issues after having surgery for breaking my knee after a ski accident, from which I developed #CFS.

Over time, I was able to greatly improve my energy levels, but my sleep was still an issue.

I never knew if I would get a good night’s sleep or not.

Hi!  I’m Edie.  I developed chronic fatigue after hurting my knee in a ski accident and having surgery for it in my early twenties. I tried everything to get better and to get my energy back.

What works?  It’s a combination of things:  diet, self-care, mind-body practices like #yoga, reducing  your toxic load, stress management, using high-quality #supplements (or p.drugs that work), community, high-quality #sleep, etc. Click here for more information on why sleep matters for #health and well-being.

My number one tip for better sleep is coming up below…

p.s.  Did you know I wrote a whole book on the subject of how I got well?

It’s called The Memory of Health. You can read more here about what worked for me, and what may work for you.  Click here to find it:  https://portlandwellnesscoach.com/wellnesscoaching/

Sleep Tips & Aides: How To Get Better Sleep

These days, I do many things to ensure a good night’s sleep:

  • I manage my stress during the day – I keep my cortisol levels in check
  • I do my best to eat well, and in a way that keeps my cortisol levels in check
  • I am lucky to be able to engage in mind-body #fitness and other exercise that helps me sleep deeper
  • I am also lucky to normally get relatively early morning sun exposure
  • I limit the amount of stimulants I have, and time them for earlier in the day, or when cortisol is low
  • I try to go to bed and get up at similar hours – I am not always successful, but I have a routine
  • I use sleep supplements that help my body sleep deeper, to get more restful and healing sleep

Read much more here on how to improve your quality of sleep:

https://portlandwellnesscoach.com/why-sleep-matters-how-to-improve-sleep/

Here are some of my favorite sleep supplements:

Herbatonin.  I cannot take regular melatonin.  It is synthetic, and it congests my liver, drops my energy levels, and causes CFS symptoms in me.  Herbatonin is the perfect substitute for me.  It is melatonin made from/based on  plants, like chlorella.  Melatonin helps your body sleep deeper, and is a powerful hormone in the body too.  It also counteracts cortisol.

I do fine taking it most nights, but this may not be the case for your body.  You don’t want to become dependent on it.  I alternate it with other sleep aides like CBD to help my body sleep deeper and counter the effects of stress during the day.

5HTP by Source Naturals is another one of my favorite sleep supplements.  It helps your body  produce more melatonin, so you can sleep deeper.  I love the 100 mg from Source Naturals.  It’s a great amount (not for every night, maybe every other night, or several times a week).  It’s also a smaller size capsule.

5HTP is a precursor to serotonin, which is then converted into melatonin in your body.  It is supposed to help with moods too, but I find it makes me sleepy during the day.  Also, since it creates serotonin, don’t take too much, as you can develop serotonin sickness – not a fun feeling.

My Number #1 Tip for better sleep:

Try CBD for deeper sleep.  I love CBD. CBD actually helps your body produce more serotonin, which in turn converts to melatonin, which helps you sleep deeper and better (with more vivid dreaming as a bonus!).

Click here to see more of my favorite brands that help me sleep, support positive mood, etc: https://portlandwellnesscoach.com/my-favorite-cbd-products-2/

However, I do love one brand, Liberty Lixir, which is a concentrated CBD oil.  You can find it here:

Find Liberty Lixir High CBD Tincture here:  http://libertylotion.com?aff=5

Herbal Supplements:  Two of my favorite that work really well are Napz and Utzy’s Fall Asleep.

They just seem (for me) to be great formulas, that have just the right combination of herbs and minerals, in some cases, that reliably help me fall asleep, or fall asleep if I happen to get up at some point in the night.

Are you needing to get  more energy?

Have you tried yoga yet?

Yoga and other forms of mind-body practices can really help with energy!  How?  They help your body stay or get into the Relaxation Response (which is the opposite of the stress response) where healing takes place in your body.  Try Tai Chi and Qi-Gong too!  I make some videos that combine yoga, tai chi, and Qi-Gong too.

Here is a sample of just one way I use yoga to get more energy.  This video is a mellow, vinyasa flow.

Note: I will be making other yoga and mind-body videos that are more mellow too, if you have severe chronic fatigue.  Subscribe on my YouTube channel to make sure you know when new videos come out!

Note!  To do Downward Dog correctly (shown in this video), place feet under your hips, and send your hips high to the sky.  Press back through the palms of your hands, and soften through your knees.

Need more mellow yoga?  Follow me on YouTube.  I will be doing super mellow and restorative yoga too!

“I have been given this product as part of a product review through the Chronic Illness Bloggers network. Although the product was a gift, all opinions in this review remain my own and I was in no way influenced by the company. “

Here are some of the qualities I love about this product:

  • Easy to use (I put it under my tongue)
  • Great taste – mild peppermint flavor
  • Supports overall well-being
  • Supports mood
  • Supports sleep
  • Reduces pain (for me) – could CBD be a healthy substitute for opiods?
  • Reduces inflammation (for me)
  • Reduces the overall effects of stress
  • One caveat:  go slow – take a small amount and notice how you feel; build from a small dose

I have tried several CBD products, and this line and particular product is one of my favorites.  I also tried their D-Stress CBD with adaptogens, herbs, minerals, and other nutrients to combat the effects of stress.   This is another fantastic product.  Note:  I do recommend starting slow with doses of any CBD product.

You may be wondering what is CBD anyway, and how can it help me?

CBD is a PHENOMENAL restorative compound for the body.  This is truly a breakthrough in well-being!
